Do you watch Glee? Is it good TV for GLTB teens? What's good GLTB TV or screen for you?

I wish I was more into Sense8. I love, love LOVE the movie Carol. Kiss Me, a Swedish film is also excellent.

And yes, sad to see SD in this state but communities change. Perhaps the online world is not the safe refuge we needed before because the world is changing.

2019-01-03 19:39:03

I liked Sense8...sad to see it go. There are so many shows now with same sex couples...one of my favorite is the Killjoys. Sad to see the Vancouver end of SD go the way of the dodo.

Hi is anyone out there?

2014-11-07 20:42:44

No, I am not a fan. While I enjoyed Xena and The L Word, there is a huge lack of lesbian programming on TV. I would love a program that shows a true depiction of everyday life of lesbians. Sex is good but not the be all to end all and with so many shows nowadays this is their main priority. We need more substance and less fluff. I watch a lot of sci fi and detective type shows.

2014-09-10 21:18:34

=w= Never watched Glee, but good starting-off LGBT shows would be [subtext -- it's so obvious though XD] Xena: Warrior Princess, [subtext also, but like X:WP it's JUST as obvious XD] Rizzoli and Isles. Both are SFW. Lost Girl's got canon Doccubus in S4, but the foreplay-relationship in the first three seasons sizzle. For 80's SFW chemistry, [The] Facts of Life's Jo and Blair. All good 'starting' shows. XD As for anime -- Sasameki Koto~!!

2014-09-06 20:32:07

Omg I am so horny like I wanna have sex with a girl but am afraid to come out, plus idk any lesbians :(

Perhaps it's inevitable that such a high-concept project would be equally inspired and frustrating, and that's exactly the case with the group's debut, Glee. www.live4mmo.com

2013-09-09 11:33:11

We we're staying at a friends house on the Island one long weekend. She stayed behind while we all went out and by the time we came back later in the evening, our friend had her new 'toy' sprawled out on the kitchen counter. Quite the appropriate place to eat your meal, eh!?! lol

2013-09-05 14:46:29

You actually walked in on someone having sex?

2013-08-26 11:29:22

Ha! I had a friend who was a very strict member of 'superstraight.com' and was adamant about her sexuality, stating: 'Vaginas are disgusting smelly things' Until one night a few of us walked in on her face deep in the fuzzy pool that she found so disgusting.
Sorry, for some reason seeing the superstraight comment made me think about her. lmao

what does it mean to you cocogrrl?

NEW QUESTION......What does true happiness mean to you?

2013-05-19 22:29:14

Being accountable for your actions, telling the truth and being true as to who you really are
and being proud of that. Being a part of anything in a whole way, giving your 110% effort
In all you do. Having good morals, being positive and
having the ability to integrate to every level....never giving up!
That to me......is Integrity.

2013-05-02 22:21:49

No way! But I sure love Vikings!

2013-04-13 15:47:01

Integrity, in my opinion is the ability to stick to your beliefs because you truly believe in them... through dissension, and even at your own expense... because at the end of the day all that matters is what we hold dearest and if you can't even count on yourself... you don't have much to hang onto.

2013-04-04 11:52:26

Integrity to me, means to be honest ( not just in your own head ..in reality) means being on time and keeping your word. A person with integrity has decent values, old school..not full of a lot of drama.

2013-02-26 22:20:47

Nice to see a new question. :) To me, integrity has a lot to do with consistency. It starts with good morals and values. It is seen, when those internal thoughts line up with our outward expressions. When the words line up with actions. I would say it is literally a, consistent, humane, human, in a likely imperfect package.

Hi there aceofhearts nice handle name:) Integrity to me is to be honest, fair and of moral upright character,no matter what in any situation of life.Being whole as a person, when dealing with other people's emotions.

being authentic and not abandoning your truth. I once dated a girl who would change her mind based on what the majority thought. I love to hear an original idea whether or not it's popular or you take a verbal caning for expressing it. What do you think CoCogrrl? What does integrity mean to you?

Isn't glee a kid's show? what's the big deal?

2012-10-03 15:48:19

Oh gosh, Glee is a modernized version of Fame. I loved Fame and refuse to watch Glee (I refuse to allow Glee to taint my love for Fame). I'm not certain anything on the boob tube is wonderful or in support of the young GLBT. Possibly Degrassi might be a good substitute. However I think there is more out there online such as in webseries like 'Out with Dad' or even 'Anyone but me'.

2012-10-01 22:07:32

2012-10-01 22:06:07

Glee is good, not a fan but it has good themes.

2012-09-12 09:18:07

To change the subject......
If you want to hear a song by a band that is relatively unknown here in Canada......check out .....Takida ( it`s a Swedish band ) and a song by them... 'Curly Sue '. The voice on this guy is amazing.....the video is so sexy !

Anyone else out there who wants to share some music/bands that perhaps most of us have never heard of ?

Well when skippy is ready, she can allow other's to help, instead of chasing for a relpy, other's are busy to in life.

2012-05-20 18:09:34

dont take me as attacking, more like protecting, i stand up for my friends always have and will!

Yes i went out of my way, she still has to forward the links to me though. and maybe i just use fb to add events here too. i get lots of invites to different parties.

Give it some time and when she can she will make changes that she needs to so others can help out. i think since sd is across canada, that folks from each region can help out. how about start something in the forums?

Im on medical assistance due to depression caused by 7 years of working under stressful conditions with people with disabilities, stressful life events. i think i have a clue about what you are going through. stress from the employer not my clients...well some from my clients :P i was a live in caregiver the last 5 years. so my finances arent much either and i volunteer with events which gets me in to them and i drink water while out or carry a flask if i have anything to put in it. This site was run by several admins, and now just one busy bee. she will read this post when she gets back on here, maybe time to add some more admins who are webpage design savvy? Thats it, start a thread in the forums, folks that know webpage design, offer your services there and she can find you! im sure her inbox is full by now ;)

As for events, feel free me message me here and i will post them up too :)

2012-05-20 10:15:30

Yes, on the same page and in the same book coco. Promoting enthusiasm, and inquiring about community interest is what it is about. I get disability and i get websites. I have not been on here for a while and it has in fact become lifeless. We do not see events, yet a posting is free. Research, and some copying and pasting would take care of this. Just saying. This is what brings things together. When we know what is going on, we can then think of where we want to go. Then we will get together, revive the site, and even spend some money. Communication, real communication not facebook and chasing. They are here because they want it and miss it. I would hope this would be for the majority.

I don't think anyone is being hard on skippy. only we are frustrated at wanting to help and not being able to even not getting a response saying it will come. this was a positive conversation about people expressing their desires for the site to survive and talking about how we all tried to help, and information sharing. I know for myself I can not pay i am on disability(sorry you might not know how difficult that is) but friends of mine have paid. and even those who have paid and some who haven't tried to volunteer but if we do not know skippy and can not message them personally then we can not help. not our fault it just is. so it is not ok for you to accuse us of doing nothing gruveechick. the only negative is gruveechick accusing us of not helping when even they had to resort to fb to get in touch about how this site is doing. i would love the opportunity to tell skippy how much i appreciate this site and how i have made many friends here and found lovers and a couple of funny dates that turned into great stories. but this would be my only access so hopefully the next time they are on here they will see this thank you. of maybe gruveechick you could pass the message on to your friend. but let's keep the discussion open and friendly please I believe that the fact that we are still oming here says a lot about what we want.

2012-05-18 13:27:26

well i cant speak for skippy

but people are still using this site and it has gone quiet many times. such is life.

i know i messaged skippy via facebook as we are friends and it is somewhat complicated formats for each thing. she made events easy to figure out, but everything else has to be altered for others to update. its a work in progress, this site is plenty useful and should be appreciated for it being here for so long and out of her pocket. so how bout stop trying to shut it down already, your not paying for it, skippy is still even though she doesnt have time to be on here right now.

lets give her a break right now and use the wall to communicate with folks till it can be updated? if you know skippy outside of superdyke, contact her and let her know you want to do something here like i did. she was very happy to get that message when i contacted her outside of sd.

hey all i don't come here all that often anymore. the thing about volunteering when skippy put the call out for volunteers my friend responded the same day the twice since, and heard nothing back. so it most likely is not about people not wanting to volunteer it is more about skippy is busy and does not have time to teach people how to do it.

2012-05-16 22:11:20

... as they should be. :) It's shitty the the needs of the transgendered members of our community aren't considered by other sites.. and that the welcome isn't warmer everywhere... even here.

2012-05-15 19:24:33

rowyn, trans are part of the community, but sd seems more trans friendly for sure. quiivr is alright but very lesbo focused and doesnt have an option to let others know about your gender identity. so i constantly get called female and have to correct which gets tiresome.

2012-05-15 19:21:05

well coco, skippy is working hard these days and such is life. she has taken care of this site with the help of some friends all these years. it sucks that the question hasnt been taken care of since feb, but how bout a little patience and message her and offer to take on the sound off. i am working on the events. as always volunteers have helped out with the forums, how about new question, what are you willing to do to help keep the site going? skippy did ask for some volunteers a while back...

2012-05-10 14:49:58

Hi Gruveechick the link to Post a New Question is not being monitored anymore, just like the events. The site is still up and running, but the person who is the site monitor no longer has time for this. I know someone who can do it, but if there is not enough interest then there is not much point. This question has been here since Feb and it would be great for everyone if we can get things going again. This is why I have asked the question.

2012-05-10 13:41:51

I think the abundance of similar sites waters down the numbers of visitors to this site... and from personal experience... this isn't the friendliest of places by comparison. I paid for membership... but I don't know that I would again though as the benefits to members don't differ much from non-paying members.

As for transgendered members... I think they are a part of this community and can't see any valid reason why they shouldn't be.

Glee? Meh... doesn't do anything for me.

2012-05-10 10:57:26

theres a link just above the comment box, suggest a sound off question. click on it and suggest a sound off question if you want a new one!

as for coco, i may have met you in real life, but why are you on here if you dont have a profile? this site was here when i came out and i paid for membership. i have volunteered to participate in the pride parade with superdyke and have made nice groups of friends who would hang out regularly from superdyke. i have also come out trans and part of that ease has come from superdyke not being assholes and kicking me out because of it. i am not a heterosexual man, im queer and this space has provided an excellent resource for me to discover who i really am and find people to hang out with, date, fuck, all sorts of things. is it still relevant? yes otherwise why are you logging in still?

i dont watch glee, not a big fan of it, although i love jane lynch. my roomies upstairs watch it and love it and get all involved singing along and stuff. lots of my friends watch it and post on fb about it. as for gay tv, i find the brits and aussies tend to incorporate more homosexuality in their tv shows, at least some of the ones i have watched.

Maderia....et ..all

I am thinking that there is more .... Emotions....unexplored .

Perhaps.......most members have met a significant other....thus no more need to be on this site.... Perhaps ...there are life happenings......maybe too difficult to share . Maybe.......issues of identity ...how can i share......is there anyone out there who understads ???
Human Sexuality.......Gender......Only specialness is inclusive...any thing other is discrimination. These are just my thoughts....no finger pointing .

2012-05-09 14:17:52

Yes, I do want you guys to stay alive with events. That's one of the best things about the site.

I am willing to do my part re: paying as I have been with Superdyke a long time. As to a dyke bar I agree with pussnbooty that going to a function and drinking bottled water will not pay the expences of havin a place. I totally support a place by buying drinks and paying a small cover charge as those who work there ( DJ,door person, server at the bar, plus the rental of the building, and the person setting up the event etc). So alot of effort is put into having a place as does Superdyke so it only makes sense to pay for services rendered. My desire would be that Superdyke can be revived,as well some day a bar us as women can go to on a regular basis.

Thank you for the info and now see the big picture what the issues are.I agree people do need to spend some money to keep things alive, paying 200.00 dollars out of one pocket is not fair.

If it's just adding events only, that can be done.Yes we are in need of a good and constant dyke bar.

Cheers we should take a vote on how many people want the site to stay alive.New question re: how many people want Superdyke to stay alive?Lets all take a few mins to participate in the new question:)

From my understanding what's going on with this site is : Not enough people are participating by spending money on their event listings ( just asking to add free events ) no one buys a membership ( even though it's only 40 dollars a year)..this site costs skippy 200 hundred dollars a month which she pays out of her own pocket..plus things are diffent from 11 years ago when skippy 1st started this site. So people, part of the reason this site has gone down hill is because sometimes people want everything for nothing. This is the very reason we don't have a good dyke bar..( tap water ) lol

Well if Skippy is willing to give it up totally, then there is a person that is willing to take over the site.It would be nice if Skippy tell's everyone that she wants to give it up for good.

2012-05-01 17:10:45

I agree pussnbooty time this site either closes up shop or gets it moving as its been stagnant for some time now. No events ,no new questions,etc.... who is running the show???

2012-05-01 02:20:39

Yes; these questions are lame. I don't watch Glee -- for the reasons alluded to below. No TV is good for teens -- the way that TV is now -- I mean, given the absence of a distinct Canadian identity which is separate from American identity, and given the overwhelming presence of American media in the average household, and the fact that by supporting American (global) media one is tacitly consenting to support the American economy, and thereby the American war-machine (think of brainwashing -- yes, it's real -- and subliminal suggestions affecting ANYone's choices regarding what products they buy and how they behave vis-a-vis consumerism and finance, more generally). What's good TV for any teenagers? How about a distinctly Canadian federal or provincial government expert-run educational forum that entertains at the same time as it shatters the idiotic self-destructive images of homo/bi/trans/queer(etc.) people we see all the time in Americanized TV and movies and media in general (not to mention how much we see REAL people acting out such Americanized ideals).

2012-03-05 11:50:06

well said cream! I LOVE glee... I don't know if it is good for anyone else but I love it as do my friends and my kids... but mainly I think for the music... I will have to ask some of the kids' friends as they are GLBT

2012-03-03 20:42:27

Sometimes watch it. Used to watch it much more in the past.I like the show and I like that it brings the LGBT agenda to TV. I think that TV influences public opinion a great deal. Communication is the answer to changing the future for the better.

2012-03-03 20:08:02

glee eats brains.

sorry, i meant zombies.

i suspect my 14 yo daughter to be Bi, and she loved Glee. I think its a very good show

2012-02-26 11:25:53

that's a good joke.

2012-02-23 08:02:41

it is interresting that all responses so far have to do with our teens. i know a lot of adults who watch glee and talk about it.

i also have a seventeen year old who i raised as a person not a gender, the baby shower invites read 'it's a baby!'. as for the show, we do not have cable in our home and do not watch glee or any tv but my child is very open and has many friends gay and bi. so i'm not sure if it is the show or being raised by a queer parent or the times have changed. Quite possibly it is a combination of all of that.

either way i am happy that the show starts a conversation, that is a big gift. And i am happy if the situation is indeed better for our youth!

2012-02-22 21:35:03

I love Glee. I watch it with my 17 yr old daughter too. I just found out that her boyfriend loves it too! We all watched it together last night and it got the conversation going around bullying for GLBT youth in school. They both said that their high schools are open about the issue and have strong support groups for students. Thank god times are changing...I know it's not perfect yet but it is certainly improving compared to my time in school.

My daughter (17) and her friends all watch Glee - and they hang out in a big LGB crowd at school, they're musical, they're into theatre, and they're totally inclusive - they love the whole rainbow world and welcome diversification. Would this happen without Glee - of course! But does Glee help? I believe so.

2012-02-22 12:17:55

Personally, I love Glee. I watch it all the time with my partner. I think it decently represents what some of the LGBT community has to go through (like last night's episode), but it'd be nice to see a trans kid on there at some point.
I don't really watch much TV anymore, and i don't know of too many shows that have outright gay characters that are respectfully represented. It'd be nice to see a show NOT on OutTV that's all gay characters, lol.

SOUND OFF!
  We want to know...

Do you watch Glee? Is it good TV for GLTB teens? What's good GLTB TV or screen for you?
