"Revolutionary, Heartbreaking, and Laugh-out-Loud funny. - Seattle Magazine
"Battling over band names, lyrical intent, microphone time, musical direction, and loose ideas of artistic merit (Amelia is a child who treasures her noise), these budding rock stars are a bewitching bundle of personalities who feel the triumph of every successfully landed riff and the familiar crush of social exclusion. It's a captivating five days inside the core of this exceptional outlet for creativity and expression; a film not just to be commended and enjoyed, but a remarkable camp that should be a requirement for every teen girl out there in dire need of empowerment and focus". - Brian Orndorf www.girlsrockmovie.com

Trio of tempestuous ladies grooving out to fabulous, funky tunes ... sort of Janis Joplin meets Peggy Lee, CURL writes and performs original material - usually blues-based, with comedic lyrics - and also plays crowd-pleasing classic rock, blues and soul music.
DJ Lyssa has performed at some of the city's cool lounges & underground hotspots like The Sunset Room. Her impressive upcomming summer appearances keep her busy: Elevation in Kelowna, Entheos Gathering & Uprising Media Festival both in the lower mainland, and Breakwater Surf & Sound Festival on the Island.
Everyone knows that good things come in small packages and ShellB is no exception, though her beats are much bigger than her feets! You can be sure when she puts her feminine touch on the west coast sound of dirty bass you'll be disinclined to leave the dance floor anytime soon.
Everyone welcome, licensed, 19+

Featuring poetry, song, improvisation, and movement pieces, Women in the Raw promises to be an empowering and intimate evening for all women present. Women in the Raw features an all-female cast and is performed nude; open only to women and transgendered audiences. Last year, Women in the Raw moved audiences to a standing ovation, and LoudSpeaker coordinators received several emails in praise of the performance the following days. This is sure to be a highlight and a must-see for all women and their daughters.

Have you heard the rumor? It's true! On Saturday March 20, 2010 the Homospun Collective is hosting another fabulous night of dancing and performance. This time we are teaming up with Harm Reduction Victoria (HRV) to present a variety show which we hope will feature local talent in song and dance, performance and art.
$5-$10 at the door, no one turned away. This event is 19+, please bring your ID!
Call-Out for Performers:
This is a chance for you to get up in front of an adoring crowd and show off your talents! Do you have a new song you want to sing? A performance piece? A poem? Or maybe you want to shake your booty on the stage in a burlesque number?
We aim to showcase a diversity of themes, styles and talents and welcome all types of performance not limited by any theme. All performers must read the Anti-Oppression Policy and submit a proposal for review. We aim to make this event a safer space for performers and audience members. Please consider your privilege in whatever form(s) it takes. No obnoxious, objectifying louts are to be tolerated, and all performers are to be adored as the strong, radical, sexy, powerful people that they are.
The deadline for proposals is: March 15.
Proceeds raised from this event will benefit Harm Reduction Victoria, the folks who stand in solidarity with people who use illicit drugs and seek to ensure the highest quality health care is made accessible to all those who require harm reduction services.
Please send proposals to: jennie.applejuice@gmail.com
Text event listings are FREE. If you'd like your event added to the website, please contact us with your event information and we'd be more than happy to list it on superdyke.com.
