Below is our listing of local lesbian events in Ottawa for March. These Ottawa queer women events have something for everyone, and are updated on a regular basis by someone who lives in Ottawa.
From the basic gender/sex notions that sustain queer thinking to the rich anti-oppression reflection that nourishes queer organizing — including the contradictions and challenges that queer movements face today — this workshop aims to clarify and deepen our understanding of queer politics. This is an all-level workshop for queers and queer allies. Feb 14, 7pm. Free. Venus Envy, 320 Lisgar.

fundraiser for queer mobilization efforts against the G8/G20. secret trial five is a punk band that write songs about zombies eating world leaders, freeing prisoners in guantanamo bay, and more. they started out in 2006 in vancouver (unceded coast salish territory), and when lead singer sena moved to toronto in 2008, she connected with toronto-based musicians sidra and manal, who ended up joining the band. the band's name comes from the name given to five Muslim men, who in 2006, were detained using 'secret evidence', spending most of their time in solitary confinement in canadian prisons without charge, but since all have been released (under strict bail conditions/house arrest). the band has been identified as being part of a genre called "taqwacore", but they now actively reject that association, as it not only limits them, but also, taqwacore has caused a racist, islamophobic and sensationalist media frenzy.
